Senior-itis
- Although many students now know where they’ll be attending college and feel as if high school is over, try to encourage them not to throw in the towel just yet.  AP exams are still ahead. The benefit of APs will vary from college to college, but doing well on the exams can potentially help seniors in the following ways:
  • allow them to opt out of introductory freshman classes;
  • fulfill some college requirements and afford them the opportunity to take other classes that are more interesting to them;
  • give them  priority registration due to advanced credit hours;
  • allow them the credit flexibility to make a study abroad program more feasible.

Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors - AP classes can provide them with the academic stimulation and confidence to meet the challenges of freshman-level college classes. Like it or not, AP classes make their transcript more attractive to colleges and universities.

Juniors - The junior year grades are often examined most closely in the admissions process. Therefore, academic success during the junior year is critical. It’s also a good idea for students to get to know their guidance counselor, because he/she will assist them throughout the college application process, in addition to writing required recommendations.
