The Beauty Spot was created for those of us who love a little glamour, whether we’re in a boardroom or with the kids at the park. We get a little high after finding the perfect shade of lip gloss, can’t resist the latest mascara promising ultra-long lashes and know that a good moisturizer is worth the investment. We love being women, but are still girlie girls at heart.

You Can’t Live Without
My first perfume was Shalimar, bought for me by my father when I was about 13. In my later teens I couldn’t get enough of The Body Shop’s White Musk, until my twenties when I didn’t commit to anything. Then Mr. C popped the question and I decided to pick a brand new fragrance to wear from my wedding day forward. I wanted a “big girl” perfume- something formal and timeless with a little bit of sex appeal. I chose Vera Wang, practically synonymous with weddings and elegance, because of its floral top notes and sugary finish. Fast forward seven years, a move to Long Island and two kids: nothing formal going on these days. I’ve always been a beach bum and my lifestyle is much more laid back now, but I didn’t so much find a new fragrance as much as it found me. I was testing the new Bronze Goddess makeup line from Estee Lauder--perfect for the sun-kissed skin of summer--but the fragrance was the true star. Somehow they bottled up my summer days at the shore and put it on shelves. Fresh and clean with undertones of citrus and coconut, I’m reminded of suntan oil but in a good way. The light scent makes it perfect to wear in warm weather, although I know I’ll be wearing it on winter days I’m nostalgic for the sand and surf. $52; www.esteelauder.com |

Beauty Express
My hair- fine, thin and shoulder length- typically looks best when tied up in a ponytail. On the rare occasion I leave it down, I embrace its nothingness and flat iron it to death until mid-evening when inevitably, it gets tied up into a ponytail. Looking for a mini hair makeover, I slid into my new stylist’s chair and asked for a cut that would give me a little oomph. A few snips later and maintaining a staunch objection to bangs, my hair had attained the coveted bounce I was looking for. Now to create the same look at home- the universal quest of women everywhere. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe the hair Gods thought I looked foxy, but a sample of TRESemme’ Thermal Creations Volumizing Mousse came across my desk. Without being dramatic, this product has changed my life. This is a mousse that demands respect- my hair practically salutes it, safeguarding the effort I put into styling it with a round brush. It delivers volume, shine and a sultry scent that rivals much pricier hair products. Best of all, my hair looks good the next day too- even if it is in a ponytail. $4.99; www.drugstore.com |

1. A lightweight face moisturizer with SPF. I like Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30; it has great ingredients and protects skin from the sun’s harmful rays. |
| |
|
 |
2. Tarte’s the eraser 4-in- 1 natural concealer. Its skinvigorating™ ingredients help treat and soothe irritated skin. (Eraser.jpg)

3. Mascara—this is always a beauty bag must! My favorite to achieve sky high lashes is tarte’s lights, camera, lashes! ™ 4-in-1 natural mascara. (Lightscamera.jpg) |

4. A great bronzer. I love just a touch of tarte’s matte park avenue princess mineral powder bronzer for a warm sun kissed glow- and it’s great for contouring. (bronzer.jpg) |

5. Blotting papers to soak up any excess oil & help prevent any additional shine throughout the day. |

What are five more products a woman should add to her beauty routine for a night out?
1. EmphasEYES™ high definition eyeliner for a sultry pop. Line the top, inner rim of the eye. It'll bring the eyes out more and make them appear bigger. It also creates a look of fuller lashes.
2. Tarte’s natural cheek stain in Flush adds the perfect pop of color to cheeks.
3. I love a bold color like cherry or hot pink. Tarte’s LipSurgence™ natural gel lip stains give a plumped look that will stay on all night.
4. A deep purple nail polish like Deborah Lippmann’s Dark Side of the moon. I like it because it’s a departure from the standard cherry or black-red.
5. A roll-on version of your favorite perfume, it’s easy to use and you can toss it in your purse. I’ve always been a fan of Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb for evening. |
